I'll be honest with you... After Türkiye'nin Yıldızları (2004) was over, i haven't watched any of the productions Engin Akyürek was in till "Fatmagül'ün Suçu Ne?", for which now i regret.
But it was not my fault.
I didn't even know he continued his acting career after Türkiye'nin Yıldızları. Despite his victory in the competition show, he never became as popular as Beren, or even half of it. I wish i watched him at least in "Bir Bulut Olsam" where -i heard- he had an excellent performance as the lead role.Another thing i must be honest about is that, when i saw him in "Fatmagül'ün Suçu Ne?", i couldn't recognise him! Don't blame me now. He looks completely different than the Engin I watched in 2004. Here you can see his transformation and growth in these photos of him:
(In the brackets are the name of the character he played, and the year of the production.)

Fatmagül'ün Suçu Ne? (Kerim, 2010) |
You see the change in his shape and character in every production he's acted in. I hope it didn't make you dizzy, looking at so many pictures. (I couldn't find how to put the pictures side by side, instead of making a huge tower of them. I am still learning this, so bear with me! )
I've read a lot about him on the internet while i was searching for information and those pictues above. And i haven't seen a single negative comment about his personality or his acting. That should be a good sign, and a good reason to follow him and watch everything he's involved.
Unfortunately there isn't so much i can tell you about him, since he seems to be good at avoiding paparazzies. Here is the little information we have of Engin Akyürek:
- He's born in 12th October of 1981, in Ankara.
- He's 187 cm tall.
- He is graduated from Ankara University History Department.
- His name Engin means "Broad Sea" or "Vast"(Adjective)
His career:
- Yabanci Damat ("The Foreign Groom", 2004, tv series)
- Kader ("Destiny", 2006, film)
- Karayılan ("Black Snake", 2007, tv series)
- Bir Bulut Olsam ("Beyond the Clouds"*, 2009, tv series)
And of course
- Fatmagül'ün Suçu Ne? ("What is Fatmagul's fault?". 2010-?, tv series.)
The end. I hope you enjoyed this series of articles. You can write me with your article requests, ideas and suggestions from here.
(*: "Bir Bulut Olsam" actually means "I wish I was a Cloud". Bulut here is the last name of Engin's character, which also means "Cloud" in Turkish)

Well, that's another proof that the winners of the Star Academy/Superstar/Popstars (etc...) TV shows, are not necessarily the ones who succeed the most afterwards.
Beren is an amazing actress and she deserves to be as successful as she is now.
As for Engin, he does look wayyyy better now, I wouldn't have recognized him neither Lool ! the mustache was ugly
Thank you so much for the information, it's all very interesting I hope he keeps his hair long he looks great with long curly hair.
I think Engin will give us his best preformance in Fatmagul :-)
He did look handsome in Yabanci Damat and now in FSN he had put on muscle and looks mature and grown up. I am growing fond of him as each day passes.
I saw engin on Bir Bulut Olsam I Think he is
great actor and deserves to be the winner
I read that Bir Bulut Olsam was a big
success in Turkey , is this true
I never watched it, but i heard good things about Bir Bulut Olsam.
But it's said that, the show didn't recieve the attention it deserved. There were even rumours that it wouldn't make it on TV till the final episode, due to low ratings.
In the end the final episode became 4th most watched on tv, the day it was aired.
One other thing i've heard is that despite the good story and acting, final episode was a little bit disappointing. But what do i know. I didn't even watch the show. (Though, i plan to, when i have time. Maybe even translate it if it hasn't been done already, who knows :)
I followed Bir Bulut Olsam , although I do not
speak Turkish ,a wonderful series in my
opinion, so I think it's a good idea to
translate it Because there is no
translation of it .
Very talented actor...
There is something I wanted to ask about...I heard that Ismail Filiz was going to play Kerim instead of Engin...Is it true???
