Thanks guys for all the hard work..very well appreciated.
In regards to the characters....Kerim, Mustafa, Fatmagul, Mukaddes
Do I feel bad for Kerim?....Hell no......talk about stockholm syndrome!
My heart goes out to Fatmagul. Being raped by three men and then having to married one that was present during the raping and didn't stop it (regardless of being drunk) is even more unsettling to even think about. Worst of all, having the man that she loved and about to get married to abandoned her is even more cruel.
Mustafa dissapointed me for not sticking by Fatmagul during her trials and tribulations. He messed up big time...but I think what set him off is having to find out that one of the supposedly four men that raped the love of his life ended up marring her.... hence the notion of her cheating on him the whole time. ----Now he is out for bloody, but you can sense he still loves her but his pride is getting in the way!!
Mukaddes is an arsehole (Excuse of profanity yeah) had to say that......I cannot wait for someone to finally put her in her place..ugh.
One of my favourite character is Ebe nin (I don't know if I spelt it correctly). Love her....she is a very wise woman and Kerim is lucky to have someone like that in his life.
Erdogan is angry because he saw the prostitute's card in Vural's wallet. He thinks Vural has been out enjoying himself while pretending to be depressed to the rest of them. Erdogan doesn't realize that Vural didn't go to her to enjoy himself. So yes, he believes Vural is faking his depression and pretending to be more virtuous than the rest of them.
I agree, Mustafa acted in a very disappointing way when he didn't bother to listen to Fatmagul's side of the story. Instead, he believed whatever was told to him by those who don't have his or Fatmagul's best interests at heart.
I can understand why you don't have any sympathy for Kerim but his character's evolution has been interesting thus far. It looks like Fatmagul is warming up to him slowly. It'll be interesting to see how their relationship is handled and if the writers can make it into something that overcomes their dark shared history. Right now it's hard to look at Kerim as anything but a guilty party- the man who stood by and didn't protect an innocent girl.
Thanks for watching and all your interesting comments!
Thank you! We try to keep to the spoken dialogue as accurately as possible.
I would like an answer to that last question as well! (it wasn't revealed in the trailer).
Kerim character is developed to be likeable, and that's totally understandable considering the facts that he is good guy, with heart at right place, and it was one mistake involving drugs and alcohol abuse.
But that ONE mistake changes everybodies lives for worse, and now is to see who is capable of not losing a mind completely, like Mustafa or Vural...
My point is, I learn to like Kerim, slowly...but do i see him and Fatmagul together - I don't know...I mean he keeps repeating I don't remember anything, but when time comes and he will remember how can they have normal relationship...it's hard...I still doubt so many things...
It's true, Kerim is very likable despite what he's done, which may make it possible to forgive him. There's still a lot to work through but I see Kerim and Fatmagul ending up together as well.... though I'm still not sure exactly how either...
When I was watching episode 1, I some how had impression that Fatmagul was rushing in to marrying Mustafa for the wrong reasons - among others to escape Mukaddes tourchure, and I'm glad that she didn't end up with him, because she probably will be misarable after some time, knocked with few kids, and with alcoholic/ cheating husband. On the other hand she also now - after that nightmare deserves some fresh start, with somebody who will fully understaind her, who will be gentle, kind, patiente and who will love her no matter what...
Are they trying to create Kerim's character to be that person? How can she forget that he was there that night, watching 3 friends raping her?
I keep asking myself is it really possible to forget and to have that loving, for all time, special realtionship with somebody who was directly envolved in case like this...So far this tvshow was absolutely realistic and I hope to get that awnser - at the very end...
Erkan & Melek, it is really a great work , thanks a lot!
There is something I tried to understand about Refat and Resat but couldn't....
We know that both brothers are involved in Yasaran's holding but who is the real owner of this holding? Is it a family business or does it belong to Perihan and the brothers are just working there? Does Rifat have shares in the holding? Is Münir aware about Resat's extra activities?
Does anyone know if there is translation fro the series Kalpsiz Adam (rajol bala qalb)...Either in ARabic or English)....
I would have liked to make the presumption based on the few interactions that I saw of Fatmagul and Mustafa when watching Episode 1 ~~but I didn't, why ? Because I felt that they both really loved each other and not based on Fatmagul wanting to escape the evil medusa.....hmm...I mean Mukaddes..hehe. What I saw of their interaction (relationship) was what I have also seen in Turkish drama, which is within the norm.
Yes, it's indeed possible to forgive him. which will be beneficial to her healing process, but the question is, will you love and build a relationship with a person like that ?
Yes, his character has developed to be a likeable guy, but still a mistake is a mistake that has destroyed (or in the process of) so many lives; especially Fatmagul and Mustafa. To me in all this, they are the innocent parties involved with so many misunderstanding held within the circumstances.
I will rather Fatmagul build a life with a total stranger, someone that hasn't been tainted within her previous circumstances than Kerim. It will be an injustice to settle for that.
That was exactly my thought, total stranger , not a guy who will remind her every day of that horrible act - that I can see as reality... But I was carried away and forgot that this is TvShow, so I may sound too harsh creating my own scenario...Thank you for replies, I loved them all!
i agree with you although kerim and fatmagul could make a cute couple in other circumstances but after fatmagul's accident with kerim watching and not trying to protect her i think it's realy hard i hope the director could convince us if she decided that they end up together
for moustafa i still see in his eyes great love for fatmagul inspite of his anger and pain i just saw this look in his eyes when asu mentioned fatmagul and when he was trying to call her back, his eyes suddenly turned to express love and pain and showed he missed her.
i think it's realy sad thad fatmagul an moustafa didn't have this final conversation to clarify everything and relieve some of their pain
Trust me, it's easier to get carried away....especially a likeable character such as Kerim. I hope this drama portrays a reality stances and not that of the usual "happy ever after" make believe storyline. So far, it has its potential.
I had impression, not presumption ;-)
Have you not notice how he lied to his mother, so easily when he was with Fatmagul and mother acused him not to come home and kiss her hand first...If being really in love he will never put Fatmagul at second place.
Also he had a such a bad temper which makes me wonder what if she want to have her own opinion, job, friends etc...will he ever allow her that, or will jealousy and lack of trust kill that love...
I noticed his actions but that has nothing to do with his inner feelings for Fatmagul and/or putting his mother first. You have to understand the culture in which the story is being told and how children are with their parents; especially Mustafa's relationship with his mother. This drama epitomised extreme aspect in Turkish society yeah. Turkish mothers are often overprotective toward their sons as sons have a significant role in society due to the socio-cultural structure of families in Turkey. I am not trying to make a stereotypical statement here....just speaking from my observation.
I am sure at one point, women have, at least once in their lives, met a man who calls his mother 'too many times' a week or always prefers mama's cooking skills over those of his life partner. This phenomenon, colloquially dubbed the 'mama’s boy' problem, is in fact a well-documented not just in the Turkish society. Sorry for babbling.
In regards to Mustafa's temper........I am sure we will still be wondering the outcome of his temper had they had their nuptial.
In the current situation of Mustafa's temper, I will say it's warranted. He is frustrated.....there hasn't been a closure.
Indeed....I hope they have a closure for both their sakes.
I agree with the idea of normal relationship between K&F is obviously impossible, remember guys when they were in the hotel and F fainted then K tried to bring her back when some pictures of that night came back to his mind,he got scared and pulled himself away from her .If this is his reaction ,so we all can imagine what her reaction will be.
TV shows should reflect real actions and real feelings so i think the script writers should work hard to convince us with the oppesite.
I am well aware of mama's boy syndrome, and dr. Phil and such has made a fortune on it so it is global problem :-) Maybe that can justify how he behaves, but...his behavior after rape is just unbelievable/unforgivable, selfish and not an act of a man in love.
LOL.....@ Dr. Phil's comment....true though.
Yes, Mustafa's behaviour after the rape is truly unbelievably but then again, think about the society in which this story is being told. In most society, it always comes down to the victim being blamed and I wasn't even surprised with Mustafa's reaction but disappointed. Again...it has nothing to do with his feelings for Fatmagul....
Exactly, dissapointed, and I dont hate him, let me just clarify that, he is just a regular guy! About society ...isn't it about time for some change, haven't we all at some point forgotten about Fatmagul?!!This will be the right time to send some positive message and let everyone know that people care about victims, think of their pain, and hope for justice...
I don't want this to sound as a political cliche...
Hello and you are welcome :)
We tried to answer some of your questions in the "Notes: Episode 12" blog post.
You can visit the link http://whatisfatmagulsfault.blogspot.com/2010/12/notes-episode-12.html
Hope that's been helpful.
Thanks for the translation. This was a good episode, especially after the slower one last week. I think it will most likely be Fatmagul trying to stop Kerim from leaving the airport in the following episode. And I agree with a lot of the other viewers that this was definitely a turning point. As much as we over analyze this show and think certain aspects should be different we forget that this is made for entertainment purposes. And I believe in the original film version of this program the two characters fall in love. So even with the untraditional introduction and the drama somehow, someway, Kerim and Fatmagul will get together. We just have to wait and see the story unfold.
Indeed, I totally agree with you and you don't sound like the usual political cliché...hehe.I am sure this drama is to most definitely target and addressed the sigma of rape victims in every society not that of the Turkish alone.
It's about time people in some society start blaming the victimiser and not the victim(s).
thank you guyes so much...you don't know how much you made our lives easier since you started this site...thank you a million times...
