Any Questions, Friends? [Answers]

Hello friends,

It took a bit longer than a week, but here are my answers to your questions.

Q- Is this the first series you translated, or were there others? Why did you choose to translate this show?

A- It's the first one indeed. I chose to translate it after watching the first 9 Episodes, and seeing how people with almost no Turkish knowledge were eagerly and passionately watching the show every week, for it's touching story and great performances of the actors. The comment section on Youtube were full of pieces of translations that would get confusing at times. So I thought it'd be nice to help our friends outside Turkey understand and enjoy this fine TV series with subtitles.

Q- 1) Do you know any other websites like this one where I can watch Turkish shows like Aşk-ı Memnu with English subtitles? Or even a YouTube channel where I can find them?
2) What Turkish shows do recommend watching next after an amazing one like Fatmagül'ün Suçu Ne?
- Stephanie

A- 1) I am afraid I don't know any other website like this one, I wish there was.
2) I guess it depends. But Kuzey Güney and Aşk-ı Memnu would be safe choices. I haven't watched all the episodes of either series, but I liked the ones I did, and I've read and heard very good things about them. Or if you're an Engin Akyürek fan, I'm sure you would like Bir Bulut Olsam. Ezel was also a big and successful production I would highly recommend those four. But there are more of course, you can read more about these TV shows and others in Turkish TV Series section of our forum.

Q- Are you going to translate episodes 5-8 of "Fatmagül'ün Suçu Ne?", will there be another season?

A- Yes, not sure when exactly but they will be translated in a month or so.
No, Fatmagül'ün Suçu Ne? Tv series has ends with Episode 80. There won't be a third season.

Q- Can you translate <insert your favourite TV show> as well?

A- This is the most asked question by far. I received the same question from quite a few people. Naturally everyone wants their favorite TV shows to be translated, but that's kind of impossible due to time/energy constraints (until cloning technology advances to a stable level :P)
But I am considering translating another TV show, if I can find help. I have one popular series in my mind, but I'll do the announcement only when it's certain.

Q- My family and I are thinking about taking our summer vacation in Turkey this year. We were looking at hotels in Taksim Square or Sultanahmet. Where do you think we should stay?

A- I am afraid I can't help you with that, as I have never stayed in any hotel in Istanbul. But some of our forum members has, even this year in May, perhaps you can ask the same question in our forum. Registration takes a minute only and we are a nice and friendly bunch, you won't regret it :)

Q- Are Turkish people muslim, because they say mashallah, allhumduila, and they read verses from the Quran? But they do sleep around and also drink.

A- Majority of Turkish population is muslim, yes. And Turkey is a secular country. It's their own choice to drink, we are not to judge.

Q- Can you tell me more about the Turkish traditions and more about Turkish food?
- Emiliya

A- There is a lot to tell about Turkish traditions and food. Maybe you should start from reading the Turkish Cuisine and Turkish Traditions sections in our forum. And our informative posts in this blog (as compiled in here) can also be interesting to read.

And you can always ask for more later.

Q- My question is, since I am only at episode 37 now..till how long do you intend to keep this forum and the episodes? might they be removed?
i just want to know how much time i have to watch them :)
-Lena

A- We don't intend to remove any of the Episodes or this forum/blog. So you can take your time and enjoy watching it at your own pace!

Q- What's the name of the song in EP 38 at min. 52?

A- Name of the song is "Ben Sende Tutuklu Kaldım", it's a Sezen Aksu song. You can listen to it here.

Q- I like this tune that plays each time Fatmagul & Kerim are together. I don't know how to describe it...but if I can download the full tune it will be great!

A- You can find all Fatmagül'ün Suçu Ne? tunes here in Moon's post in our old forum. Hope that helps you find it.

Q- I want to know more about the traditional dance of Turkey, I mean in episode 74 Kerim and his father danced in a different way and want to know more about which type of dance was that?

A- It is called Harmandalı or Harmandalı Zeybeği. It is a century old Zeybek dance. It belongs to Aegean region, and is one of our traditional dances.

For another Harmandalı performance by a well known actor: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uY2YQPS2vo8&feature=related
If you just want to listen to the beautiful musichttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qfclp8QPaQ

Q- Do you have the name of the song where Fatmagul and Kerim slow danced to on their wedding night?

A- If you mean this song, it's called ''Bana Ellerini Ver" (Give Me Your Hands), by Özdemir Erdoğan.

Q- I am from Croatia and cannot watch certain Episodes on FSN official Youtube channel or on the videos you posted, what can I do?

A- Since the videos we upload on Youtube are exactly the same as the ones in FSN official Youtube channel (only with subtitles), when they block a country from viewing a certain episode, the same episode gets blocked no matter in which channel it's uploaded.

So I guess you'll have to wait till they remove the blockage, as they did before. Or you can try an alternative method shared by kind and helpful Shada here.

I think that was pretty much all of the questions, hope the answers will be helpful and enjoyable to read. Apologies if I forgot to answer any of your questions. Feel free to remind me, or ask new questions if/when you have any.

some one asked about a link to watch Turkish series with English subs. viki, com is the best link to watch motives and tv shows from all over the world with subs in many languages including English. It is where I first watched the very first eps of FSN with eng subs but for some reasons they removed it but recently is back but only the first eps so far, I am watching KG there and used to watch I Named Her Fareha(which has been removed due to some copyrights issues)

Hello, first off thank you sooo much for translating all of these episodes! I would like to know the song kerim and rahmi are singing in the beginning of episode 69? I like they way they are singing as well. If its possible to just capture that part of the episode, the way you did with the other songs it would truly be awesome! Again thank you so much!

Hello everyone,
I just read some comments and Erkans answers and as I can see you all feel just like me.....sad cause our favorite show is over. It makes it even worst when I came across trailers of all the other shows and announcements for new seasons... But there are some good shows like Kuzey Guney (you can find all 40 episodes translated on Viki http://www.viki.com/channels/4762-kuzey-guney/videos/71652/1 ). There are subtitles in 8-10 different languages. What I couldn't find anywhere is translation for

Hatırla Sevgili with Beren Saat. This show is older but I think it is a beautiful love story and also tells us a lot about political situation in Turkey in 60's. I think it is very interesting and Beren is amazing actress. So please, if anyone knows that there are subtitles, let me know. I would be so grateful. Maybe Erkan might take into consideration to translate this show as well :))

BTW, I was impressed by SUSKUNLAR series, tough subject but I couldn't stop watching. What are your impressions Erkan (if you watched the first season)?

Best regards to all of you worldwide and thank you Erkan (and your team) for making us so happy every week, kisssssssss from Croatia

Salamu Alaikum Erkan.
Thanks a million for this great effort. I know how hard it must've been for you but you did a marvellous job. I love watching Turkish series in Turkish with Eng subs and hate it when they are shown with dubbed fake voices. You did me a great favor and now I really love Turkish language..*_*
Tell me if you know how I can upload the GUMUS series with English subs 'coz I'm really dying to listen the real voices of this romantic story.
Thanks again and all the best.

Liloo Mohammad said...

mmm, it may sound as a silly question or it might have been asked before and I didn't notice it, but what's your nationality or where do u originally come from? Another question is that I was wondering about the level of difficulty of the Turkish language, since after watching this show translated not dubbed and hearing "turkish", I really loved it and became hilariously curious about it, so is it really difficult to learn? or is it just like English, for example? 'bearing in mind that I'm an Arab and we have so much vocab in common with the turkish language'
THAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANX ALOT :)
